They were released from Dibrugarh Central Jail in Assam after the Punjab Government decided not to re-invoke the stringent National Security Act against them. After their release from there they were brought to Amritsar on transit remand. They were formally arrested by the Punjab Police in connection with the Ajnala police station attack that occurred in February 2023.
