Harjit Singh had reportedly been on a hunger strike for the past a few days. He was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night. Harjit (54) has been demanding a physical meeting with visitors instead of communicating them via telephone from behind a glass wall. He has also been demanding the right to speak with his family in Canada over the phone.

His counsel Harpal Singh Khara said, “Urine infection was detected. But when he refused to undergo treatment until his demands were met, he was discharged after spending nearly one-and-a-half hours at the hospital.”
