In a video that has gone viral, a visibly frightened Harminder Singh is heard appealing to the Indian government for help. He says he went to Russia in search of employment and was promised a job as a construction worker, but instead, he was forcibly recruited in the Russian army and sent to the frontline.

“I request the Indian government to take me out and bring me back to India. There is a threat to my life here,” Harminder said in the video, describing the dire conditions and drone attacks near his location.

Speaking to mediapersons, his brother Gurminder Singh said Harminder had left home to earn a living for the family, but fell victim as he was deceived into joining the Russian army.
