Anti-drone tech to deal with narco-terrorism
The Punjab Police are set to enhance their efforts against cross-border drug smuggling with the introduction of an advanced anti-drone technology. The initiative is part of the state’s ongoing campaign against the drug trafficking.
Addressing mediapersons after a demonstration at the PCA stadium in Mullanpur, Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said three companies presented their cutting-edge anti-drone solutions.
Apart from Cheema, Cabinet minister Aman Arora, DGP Gaurav Yadav and other senior civil and police officials were also present at the event.
Cheema said the showcased technologies included portable, mobile and stationary solutions, each designed to intercept drones at different distances. These systems aim to disrupt drone movement, thereby breaking the cross-border drug supply chain.
Aman Arora said while the primary responsibility for halting cross-border smuggling was that of the Centre and the BSF, their past efforts had not fully succeeded. He said the initiative was intended to further strengthen the state’s defences against cross-border terrorism, particularly narco-terrorism.
