Residents of Malerkotla are optimistic following the appointment of Mohammad Owais, an industrialist, educationist, philanthropist and politician, as Chairman of the Punjab Wakf Board by the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The position had been vacant since the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the state.

Owais, expressing gratitude during the holy month of Ramzan, urged all residents of Punjab, regardless of their political or religious affiliations, to take full advantage of the facilities offered by the Wakf Board’s institutions across the state.

He emphasised that the services provided by the Wakf Board should be accessible to all, including Muslims, Hindus, and Sikhs, and lamented the misconception that Wakf Board institutions only benefited Muslims. Malerkotla legislators, along with office-bearers extended their congratulations to Owais on his new role.
