Arms smuggled from Pakistan via floodwaters: 27 pistols, 470 cartridges seized; 2 arrested in Fazilka

The Counter‑Intelligence Wing of the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Fazilka has recovered the largest ever consignment of arms and ammunition smuggled from Pakistan via floodwaters.

Official sources said that a huge consignment of 27 pistols along with 470 live cartridges has been recovered from two alleged smugglers in Mohar Jamsher village, which is surrounded by Pakistan from three sides and Sutlej from the fourth.

The consignment was found in a bag wrapped with plastic tape. The smugglers have been apprehended by the Intelligence Wing of the SSOC. They have been identified as Mangal Singh, a resident of the flood-affected Teja Ruhela village; and Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Mohar Jamsher village in Fazilka.
