Arms smuggling from Pakistan via flood water continues; another cache seized in Fazilka
After the recovery of 27 pistols and 470 cartridges in Fazilka sector on Thursday, another consignment of arms and ammunition, smuggled from Pakistan through water route, has been seized in Fazilka district.
The police have recovered 16 more pistols, 38 magazine and 1,847 cartridges reportedly smuggled from Pakistan via flood water.
Two arms smugglers belonging to Fazilka district have been arrested in this regard.
The police said that on getting definite information, they nabbed Gurwinder Singh, alias Gindu, a resident of Jhok Dipolana village, and Sona Singh, a resident of Mahatam Nagar village, from near Theh Qalandar village on the Fazilka-Ferozepur highway along with the consignment.
The police said that during the investigation, the accused has confessed to smuggling arms from Pakistan through flood water.
