The Punjab Police have arrested Lavish, a close aide of foreign-based designated terrorist Arsh Dalla, from Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, said Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav here on Monday.

Lavish was arrested on Sunday evening in a joint operation by the Counter Intelligence (CI) wings of the Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur police with the support of the Gujarat Police. The police said he was planning major extortion activities in Punjab.

Yadav said preliminary investigations revealed that Lavish was taking direct orders from Dalla. The DGP said Lavish was already facing several cases.

Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police Navjot Singh Mahal said they had been trying to locate Lavish for the past few months.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
