Arvind Kejriwal to name Punjab CM face today: AAP

Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal will announce party’s chief ministerial face for the Assembly elections on Tuesday.

Party’s state affairs co-incharge Raghav Chadha said all doubts regarding the CM face would be cleared tomorrow, when Kejriwal, during a visit to the state, would officially announced the name.

He claimed the overwhelming response that the people had shown to the party’s feedback drive to choose the chief ministerial face proved the selected name would go on to become the next CM of Punjab. He said people wanted change and were determined to give a chance to the party.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema said till 5 pm on January 17, around 22 lakh people had expressed their opinion on the CM face. He said Kejriwal would announce the name as per the public opinion.

Cheema said for the first time in the history of India, a party had taken the opinion of the people to declare their chief ministerial face. On AAP candidate Ashu Banger joining the Congress, Cheema said it was a “vile act of politics”. “Our candidates are being sabotaged under a conspiracy. The Congress is giving our leaders all kinds of inducements,” he claimed. —
