Faridkot, August 22
The Faridkot police have booked an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) under the Prevention of Corruption Act for allegedly accepting Rs 1.5 lakh “bribe” from an accused in a sexual harassment case.
Anantdeep Singh of Kotkapura said the Kotkapura police registered a case of sexual harassment and illegal confinement against him in September 2015. In November 2015, the police filed a cancellation report in the case, but the court declined to accept that.
Anantdeep Singh alleged that ASI Bohar Singh assured him of getting the cancellation report admitted by the court with the help of senior police officers if he paid him Rs 1.5 lakh. He alleged that after getting Rs 1.5 lakh, Bohar Singh demanded Rs 50,000 more from him.
