ASI dies by suicide with assault rifle in Phagwara

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Narinderjit Singh died by suicide on Friday after reportedly shooting himself with an assault rifle taken from a colleague near the SSP office in the Distrct Administrative complex.

Superientendent of Police (Investigation) Sarabjit Rai told The Tribune that the ASI went to the strong room of the EVM machines, where he took the assault rifle from his colleague before shooting himself.

The deceased was posted at the police lines.

Police has launched an investigation to ascertain the exact reasons behind the suicide.
