Blurb: ‘Sought’ Rs50K from complainant for installing transformer

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau today nabbed an assistant junior engineer (JE) of the PSPCL red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
An official spokesperson for the state VB said Assistant JE Jaspal Singh, posted at PSPCL’s Cheema sub-division, Sangur district, had been arrested on the complaint of Malkiat Singh of Bhatlan village in Barnala district.
The complaint had approached the VB, accusing the official of demanding Rs 50,000 for installing a new power transformer near the house of his sister at Satouj village.
After verifying the complaint, a VB team laid a trap and arrested the official while accepting the bribe as a first instalment from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
