Attack on Col: SIT visits Patiala eatery to recreate crime scene

The special investigation team (SIT), set up to probe the assault on Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath, visited Patiala on Tuesday to collect evidence and recreate the crime scene.

The team, led by Inspector Gyan Singh, visited the eatery where the Colonel and his son were allegedly assaulted.

Sharing details, Gurtej Singh Dhillon, a relative of the Colonel, said the team arrived in the morning to recreate the crime scene.

The two cars used in the crime and the victim’s car were brought to the spot outside the eatery. Dhillon said the team needed some aerial view and for that, they wanted to use a drone, primarily for mapping the area.

“However, they did not obtain the permission to use the drone. So, in order to take the permission, the team went to the office of the Deputy Commissioner, but in the meantime, a fire broke out at the mini- secretariat, which resulted in a lot of commotion. It is also learnt that they had to take permission from the Army and the Civil Aviation Club. However, due to the fire incident, this permission could not be taken, and the team had to return.”

“I would urge the SIT to first take the permission and then visit the city to conduct further investigation. It is not appropriate to waste precious time in a futile exercise,” said Dhillon.

The attack on Colonel Bath and his son took place late on the night of March 13 near Government Rajindra Hospital. The incident reportedly was due to a parking dispute at the roadside eatery.
