The Samyukt Kisan Morcha has said the protesting farmers at Piareana village had no clue that PM Narendra Modi’s convoy was to take the route they were protesting on. They learnt about it only later from the media, after the PM had returned.

In a statement, the SKM had said it was clear from a video of the scene that the farmers did not make any effort to go towards the PM’s convoy. “Only a group with BJP flag and raising ‘Narendra Modi zindabad’ slogan had reached near that convoy. Therefore, the threat to the life of the PM seems concocted.”

“It is a matter of regret that to cover up the failure of his rally, the PM has tried to malign both the state and farmers’ movement by using the pretext of ‘somehow his life was saved’,” said the statement sent by eight SKM leaders and Joginder Singh Ugrahan. — TNS
