Muktsar, January 14

Farmer Iqbal Singh (45) from Gandhar village here, who actively participated in the ongoing farmers’ protest against the farm laws at the Tikri border for almost two weeks, died of cardiac arrest at a private hospital in Bathinda on Wednesday night.

Sources said Iqbal Singh had returned from the Tikri border three days ago after developing some health issues. He was admitted to a hospital in Bathinda where he passed away last night. A number of people, including the activists of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Sidhupur) attended the cremation.

Some village residents said Iqbal Singh owned about three acres. The deceased is survived by his wife and a physically disabled son.
