BJP wants to sell national assets to corporates: SAD
Chandigarh, February 1
Terming the Budget anti-farmer and anti-poor, Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the only focus of the BJP-led government was to sell national assets to its corporate friends.
He said the Budget had also punished Punjabis for supporting the peaceful agitation against the three agricultural laws with nothing being earmarked for the state.
“At a time when there is a need to increase direct benefit transfers to farmers and underprivileged sections, the NDA government is focusing on disinvesting PSUs. This will further boost crony capitalism as corporate players are set to buy these PSUs at dirt cheap prices,” he said.
Asserting that the Centre must move away from presenting budgets that catered to specific states going to the polls, he said: “This will lead to haphazard development.” He also asked the government to avoid words like “digital budget” and “atmanirbhar”, saying the situation was different on the ground. — TNS
