In a joint operation conducted by the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and CIA Jaito,  a shooter of the Davinder Bambiha gang was arrested following an encounter here on Friday.

Manpreet Singh alias Mani, a resident of Talwandi Bhangeria village in Moga, was arrested after an encounter near Ghugiana village of Faridkot, said Faridkot SSP Pragya Jain.

She said the accused, who had multiple cases registered against him under murder- and arms-related offences, was reportedly moving around in the Faridkot area. Acting on a tip-off, the AGTF and CIA Jaito set up a checkpoint. When the accused, riding a motorcycle, was signalled to stop, he opened fire at the police team. His motorcycle slipped as he tried to escape, leading to a brief exchange of gunfire. In the retaliatory action by the police, the accused was injured.
