The police have arrested a shooter of the notorious Bambiha gang at Lidharan village under the Maksudan police station and seized weapons from him.

The accused has been identified as Aman Kumar, alias Golden, hailing from Padraunan village, Gorakhpur (UP). He was currently residing at New Beant Nagar in Jalandhar.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar Rural, Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh, said a police team arrested the accused near Onkar Cold Store, Liddaran village, on February 19. The police seized two 30-bore pistols along with 10 cartridges from him. During preliminary investigation, the accused revealed his connection to Harmandar Singh, a Bambiha gang leader currently lodged in Rohini Jail, Delhi.

The arrest had prevented a potential serious crime, as the weapons were reportedly intended for use during Harmandar Singh’s court appearance in Jalandhar, the police said.

The arrested shooter was involved in several serious crimes in the past. In June 2018, he was booked for sexually assaulting a minor. In May 2022, he attempted a murder and participated in a riot at Kabirpur, Kapurthala.
