Barnala, July 13
Barnala Deputy Commissioner (DC) Tej Pratap Singh Phoolka today ordered an inquiry to ascertain the reasons behind the caving in of the Bajakhana Road near Dhillon Nagar, which was laid five days ago.
Visiting the affected area, Phoolka said this stretch of Barnala-Moga National Highway had caved in due to the recent incessant rains.
“I have directed the ADC (General) Aditya Dechalwal to conduct an inquiry into it and submit his report in the next three days. No one would be spared and strict action would be taken against all those found guilty,” the DC said.
He also listened to the problems of shopkeepers and said the caved in stretch of the road would be repaired soon. ADC (D) Arun Jindal, along with other senior officers, also accompanied the DC.
On Saturday night, a portion of the road have caved in within three days of its construction, raising serious questions about the quality of material used. Barnala residents had been demanding thorough investigation and strict action against the PWD officials concerned.
