The Barnala police registered a fraud case against a girl studying in Canada and her father for duping Rs 15.20 lakh from a local resident on the pretext of taking him to Canada.

“My son Babbandeep was working in Dubai, but we called him back as Manpreet Kaur had assured us of taking him to Canada. Their marriage was solemnised in July 2019. We paid her a fee of Rs 16 lakh for Canada study while we also spent around Rs 5 lakh on their marriage,” alleged Narpal Singh.
