Be available on phone 24x7, Punjab Govt staff told
The Punjab Government has instructed all its employees to always remain available on their mobile phones.
The instructions have been issued by the state Personnel Department.
Officers of the rank of Secretary and above have been asked to ensure that no employee in their respective command, switches off his phone after the office hours.
They have been instructed to remain available on their phones even on public holidays “for official and administrative reasons”.
“There are times when the administrative work needs to be done immediately, thus necessitating the need for the availability of the officers,” reads the order issued by the Special Secretary, Personnel. “It is observed that their phones are either switched off, remain out of coverage area or diverted to other numbers. This impacts the administrative work,” the order added.
The employees have been instructed to follow these orders with immediate effect.
