Best performing districts honoured

Chandigarh: On the occasion of World Population Day, the best performing districts under the family planning programme were honoured. Mansa stood first in tubectomy, Jalandhar in vasectomy and Amritsar in mini lap, said Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu.

Giving details, Sidhu said the World Population Day had been observed in all government hospitals to make people aware about the free services of family planning methods being provided by the Punjab Government.

He said the theme of the World Population Day was “aapda doran parivar niyojan di tayari, samrath rashter te parivar di puri jimmedari”.

He said to bring stability to the growing population even during pandemics like Covid-19, the disease and mortality rate of mothers and newborns should be reduced.
