Bikram Majithia arrested after vigilance raid at Amritsar house; taken to Mohali
Senior Akali leader and former Punjab minister Bikram Singh Majithia was on Wednesday arrested by a team of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau after a raid on his residence in Amritsar.
Majithia is the brother-in-law of Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal. Majithia has been taken to Mohali.
SAD leaders tried to enter the Majithia house, but were pushed back after a minor scuffle.
He has been arrested in a disproportionate assets case. Earlier, Majithia's wife and Akali MLA Ganieve Kaur Majithia claimed that 30-member team of the Bureau entered her house.
She said they have not been informed about why the raid was conducted.
A video was also shared by Bikram Majithia on X minutes after the Vigilance Bureau team raided his house alleging that the Bhagwant Mann government was trying to push for a false case against him after failing to find anything against him in the drug case.
"Bhagwant Mann ji, understand this, no matter how many FIRs you register, neither I will be afraid nor your government can suppress my voice," Majithia said.
"I have always talked about the issues of Punjab and will continue to do so," he added.
