As procurement crisis deepens in the state, the Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa today accused AAP and the BJP of colluding with each other to undermine Punjab’s agrarian economy.

Despite a high-profile meeting between Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Union Food Minister Pralhad Joshi and MoS Ravneet Bittu on October 14, the crisis hadn’t been addressed so far, said the LoP.

“How can two political entities display such camaraderie and then attempt to scapegoat each other for their shared failures?” Bajwa said.

Terming AAP’s protest in Chandigarh as theatrics, Bajwa said, “It was a calculated performance aimed at creating optics and distracting the public from AAP’s own failures.”

He highlighted impending storage crisis, with godowns already brimming from existing stocks. The arrival of additional 185 lakh metric tonnes of paddy threatens to overwhelm the storage capacity, thus making the procurement process near impossible.

“Our farmers deserve decisive action rather than empty promises by the governments,” said the LoP.
