Chandigarh, October 26
Keeping the poll pot boiling, the BJP state unit has called an election strategy meeting on Thursday. The party’s meeting conincides with former CM Captain Amarinder Singh’s expected formal announcement on a new political outfit on Wednesday.
According to sources, as per an invitation sent to the field leaders, BJP has invited all constituency in-charges for the meeting in Chandigarh.
Apart from state president Ashwani Sharma, BJP’s election in-charge Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Punjab affairs in-charge of the party Dushyant Gautam will also be present in the meeting. The message also mentioned about discussion regarding upcoming state Assembly elections.
BJP’s state general secretary Subhash Sharma said there would be multiple meetings and office-bearers of different wings of the party had been invited.
Sources said the leaders were also likely to gauge mood of the local leaders regarding pre-poll alliance with Amarinder Singh’s upcoming political party as well.
However, Subhash Sharma denied that any discussion regarding alliance could take place in Thursday’s meeting. “So far, if any discussion is taking place, it must be with central leadership. Nothing has been discussed with the state unit regarding Captain Amarinder,” he said. — TNS
