Akal Takht officiating Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh said it appeared to be a fight between the BJP and the farming community across the country. He questioned if Anna Hazare could stage a protest to implement the Jan Lokpal Bill, why couldn’t farmers let their voice reach Parliament? He alleged that the farmers’ stir was being used to defame Punjab.

“We used to hear about the atrocities being done during the colonial rule to curb the voice of people. Now, we are seeing that the BJP’s Central and Haryana Governments have been doing the same by erecting barricades and water cannons to stop farmers,” he said. — TNS
