BJP slams govt over NOC issue
Former BJP Rajya Sabha MP Avinash Rai Khanna has criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Punjab government, accusing it of making populist announcements without delivering meaningful results. Speaking to this correspondent today, Khanna pointed out that the government’s claims of streamlining administrative processes and easing public burdens were proving to be empty promises.
Khanna’s remarks came after the state government’s recent announcement to remove the mandatory No Objection Certificate (NOC) requirement for property registrations.
Despite the announcement, Khanna stated that the implementation on the ground had been non-existent, with residents still facing harassment and forced to pay extra for NOCs during property transactions.
He further accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of making such declarations for publicity purposes, without ensuring they were effectively carried out. “The government’s promises are far from being realised, and the growing frustration of the public will eventually backfire on the AAP government,” Khanna warned.
Khanna cautioned that the failure to meet public expectations could lead to widespread dissatisfaction, potentially diminishing the AAP’s support in the future. He urged the government to focus on genuine reforms rather than indulging in what he termed “empty rhetoric.”
The statement adds to the ongoing tension between the AAP government and opposition parties, as issues of governance and public service delivery continue to shape the political landscape in Punjab.
