In a meeting of the 13 farmer unions held here today, the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Lakhowal) decided to withdraw its petition filed in the Supreme Court against the farm laws enacted by the Union Government.

Nothing to do with Lakhowal faction’s plea in SC: SAD

Jagjit Singh Dalewal, president, BKU (Sidhupur), said the Lakhowal faction had moved the Supreme Court without consulting the other unions, and, therefore, it was decided unanimously that the petition should be withdrawn from the top court.

Denouncing the rallies by political parties, Lakhowal said their ‘drama’ was not aimed at the welfare of the farmers, but at getting the political mileage and promoting their own vested interests.

He said if these laws were not withdrawn, farmers, labourers, commission agents and traders would be impacted adversely. He alleged that the Union Government was committing atrocities on farmers by enforcing these laws.
