Ludhiana blast suspect a dismissed cop from Khanna

The deceased, also the suspect, in the Ludhiana court blast case has been identified as dismissed head constable Gagandeep Singh. A resident of GTB Nagar in Khanna, he was posted as munshi at Sadar police station in Khanna.

Intel alert on possible blast went unnoticed

He was arrested by the STF on August 11, 2019, along with two others with 785-gram heroin. After his arrest, he was dismissed by the police. Sources privy to the development confirmed that the police had recovered a cell phone from the court complex which led to the identification of the accused. A tattoo of ‘khanda’ (religious symbol) on his right arm also helped the police identify him.

The Ludhiana police have gone to Khanna to get further leads. It is yet unclear what was Gagandeep’s target, and why did he go to the court with the explosives.
