The police have arrested Balwinder Kumar of J&K in connection with the murder of a woman on the NH-21. She was later identified as a resident of Kinnaur, HP.

The woman’s naked body was found near Bara village, under the Kiratpur Sahib police station on August 12.

After the police issued advertisements, Ram Singh identified her as his wife who had left for Kullu with their three-year-old daughter on August 4, but never returned.

Balwinder met the deceased in Manali on August 4 and spent the night there. On August 6, the accused, along with his acquaintance Ruby, and the deceased, travelled via Delhi to Bihar, in search of work. Later, they returned to Delhi, from where they set out towards HP. On reaching near Bara village, the two had an argument, during which Balwinder strangled the woman and dumped the body in a pit.
