Brahma Kumaris’ top functionary passes away
BK Nirwair Bhai, who was serving as the secretary-general of the Brahma Kumaris organisation besides holding other important positions, died at 11.30 pm on Thursday at a private hospital in Ahmedabad. His body was brought to Abu Road today and his last rites would be performed at Mukti Dham, Abu Road, on September 22, said the organisation’s media wing chief, BK Karuna.
Hundreds of people were waiting in line to have their last glimpse of the departed spiritual leader in the conference hall and offer flowers.
The chief of the Brahma Kumaris, 101-year-old Dadi Ratanmohini, was among the first to reach the conference hall. Prayer meetings are being organised at Abohar and hundreds of other centres in the country and abroad.
Nirwair was born in Mukerian, Hoshiarpur, on November 20, 1938, and he studied at a local high school and then went for higher education at DAV College, Mukerian.
He had an interest in philosophy and religious books and was inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekanand, Swami Ram Tirtha, Mahatma Gandhi and Dr Radhakrishnan.
He served the Indian Navy for nine years and was also a part of the Goa Liberation Movement in 1961.
He played a vital role as the Managing Trustee of the Global Hospital and Research Centre in Mt. Abu, exemplifying his commitment to promoting health and spirituality.
