Bassi Pathana: Bir Devinder Singh, former Deputy Speaker, met Bibi Jagir Kaur, president of the SGPC, to discuss the historic relevance of the ancient jail in Bassi Pathana, a press release said on Friday. He said the jail had a historic connection with Guru Tegh Bahadur. Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had promised to erect a befitting memorial at the ancient jail, he said. TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
