Chandigarh: Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur on Wednesday said that 214 child beggars had been rescued under the JEEVANJYOT 2.0 programme so far and 106 of them reunited with their families. In all, 245 special raids were conducted across the state, she added. In the latest round of action, 16 raids were conducted in 16 districts and two children were found begging in Barnala and Sangrur districts. Both of them were reunited with their families.

3 held with 700 gm heroin

Muktsar: The district police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested three persons allegedly carrying 700 gm heroin and also impounded their car. Those arrested have been identified as Rinku Singh, Avtar Singh and Mahir, all residents of Muktsar town. The police claimed Avtar and Mahir were already facing some cases. A case has been registered at the Muktsar Sadar police station.
