In Briefs: Parihar gets Punjab Gaurav Samman
Faridkot: The Punjab Arts Council, Chandigarh, has honoured Professor Subhash Parihar with the “Punjab Gaurav Sanman” for his contribution to the field of art. A resident of Kotkapura in Faridkot, Dr Parihar, a renowned art historian, has made significant contribution to the study of Indo-Islamic architecture in north-western India. He has published seven books in English and six in Punjabi. The award also includes a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh. TNS
Cong leader vows to support deportees
Muktsar: PCC spokesperson Jagpal Singh Abulkhurana, who unsuccessfully contested the Assembly election from Lambi in 2022, has said it was moral duty of all politicians to support those deported from the US. He claimed that if anyone hailing from Lambi was deported from the US in the coming days, he would help him in rehabilitation. TNS
Cricket betting racket busted
Fazilka: The police have claimed to have busted an online cricket betting racket by arresting two persons and booking three others during the cricket match played between Australia and Afghanistan in Pakistan on Friday. Those arrested were identified as Sandeep Kumar, Vinod Kumar, both residents of Fazilka town. OC
