Muktsar: The Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF), Punjab, in a joint operation with Muktsar district police, on Sunday claimed to have arrested three persons wanted in multiple criminal cases. They seized 174 gm of heroin, two .32 bore pistols and 10 live cartridges from them. Those arrested were identified as Gaurav Kumar, alias Billa, of Abul Khurana village, Vikasdeep Singh and Lovepreet Singh of Muktsar town.
24 invalid votes ‘missing’
Muktsar: In a dramatic turn of events that rocked Killianwali village in the Lambi Assembly segment here, 24 invalid votes vanished from official records during the recount of votes for the sarpanch election held in October last year. Following that, the Malout SDM temporarily halted the recount and issued show-cause notices to four polling parties, involving 20 government employees. The recount was ordered after Manpreet Kaur, who lost the sarpanch seat by six votes, petitioned for a fresh tally. However, chaos erupted at the SDM’s courtroom on Thursday when officials discovered that only eight of the 32 invalid votes were there in the records.
Woman assaulted by daughter
Bathinda: Elderly woman Surjit Kaur was allegedly thrashed by her daughter at Sangat Kalan in Bathinda district. The victim was reportedly taken to her son-in-law’s house on the pretext of treatment, where she was assaulted. The woman complained to the police that her daughter snatched her gold earrings, Rs 30,000 and then threw her out of the house. The victim’s grandson Kulwinder Singh later got her admitted to the hospital. The police have started the investigation.
