Tarn Taran: A gangster was shot dead while his two accomplices were apprehended following a police encounter near Shekhchak village on the Tarn Taran-Goindwal Sahib road on Tuesday night. SSP Abhimanyu Rana said the CIA staff was pursuing the suspects when the gangsters opened fire at the police. In the exchange of fire, one gangster was killed on the spot, while the other two were nabbed by the police.

Malout (City) SHO shifted to Police Lines

Muktsar: Malout (City) police station SHO Inspector Varun Yadav was transferred to the Police Lines on Tuesday. He has been replaced by Inspector Harpreet Singh. The District Bar Association had suspended work on Monday, seeking action against Yadav and the cancellation of an FIR against advocate Harkaranbir Singh Dhillon. Nine cops, including some SHOs, were transferred on Tuesday.
