Briefs: Panchayats resolve to fight against durgs

Sangrur: At a district-level Sampark meeting organised on Tuesday by the Barnala district police, 113 resolutions were passed by village panchayats, pledging their full cooperation to the police in action against drug traffickers. The programme was presided over by Patiala Range DIG Mandeep Singh Sidhu.

Assets of sacked naib tehsildar attached

Jalandhar: The ED has provisionally attached immovable properties worth Rs 12.31 crore belonging to dismissed Naib Tehsildar Varinderpal Singh Dhoot, then Patwari Iqbal Singh and property dealers for alleged violation of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. They were reportedly involved in illicit allotment of excess shares of "shamlat" land at Seonk village to ineligible persons.

DEO suspended

Fazilka: Fazilka Deputy District Education Officer (DEO) Pankaj Angi has been placed under suspension for dereliction of duty. Anindita Mitra, Secretary of School Education, passed orders in this regard.
