Fazilka: Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, Army Commander, South Western Command, visited Abohar and Fazilka military stations to review operational preparedness and ongoing infrastructure development activities. Implementation of govt’s welfare schemes reviewed

Chandigarh: Social Security Minister Dr Baljit Kaur on Thursday directed the officials concerned to ensure that the benefits of various welfare schemes of the government reached the deserving beneficiaries in a transparent and timely manner. She reviewed the functioning of anganwari centres and vacancies there, besides other initiatives of the government. She also discussed the construction of anganwari centre buildings and toilets under MGNREGA and asked officials to complete the remaining work at the earliest. TNS

Cop booked for fraud

Faridkot: The Moga police have registered a case against Constable Kulwinder Singh for allegedly cheating and threatening an ex-serviceman. Kulwinder, a resident of Dina Sahib, is accused of taking Rs 5 lakh from Gurlal Singh and Sachnand Singh by promising them recruitment in the Punjab Police. SP(D) Bal Krishan Bali led the inquiry following a complaint by Gurlal Singh. A case has been registered at the Nihal Singh Wala police station. The accused is yet to be arrested. TNS
