Briefs: Standoff continues between villagers, medical body

Bathinda: The issue between residents of Mandi Kalan and Sooch villages and the Indian Medical Association’s (IMA) Rampura Phul unit remains unresolved, with private doctors still refusing to provide medical services to them. They claim the villagers had assaulted a doctor who tried to save the life of a road accident victim, but failed to do so on June 24. Dr Ramandeep Singla, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Bathinda, said, “I can only request them, and I have already urged the doctors to at least not hamper emergency medical services.”

15 bikes recovered, 2 held

Muktsar: The police on Wednesday claimed to have recovered 15 stolen two-wheelers from suspects who were arrested recently. The police said Gurdit Singh was arrested with a stolen motorcycle on June 27, and five more two-wheelers were later recovered from him. During his remand, he named his accomplice, Rahul Singh, who was also arrested, and nine more motorcycles were recovered from him.

Heroin, drone seized

Abohar: Personnel of 65 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) have seized a packet containing 460 gm of heroin and the drone used to smuggle the drug from Pakistan. The seizure was made in the Tahliwala BoP area during a search operation. ASI Amarjit Kaur has been assigned further investigation into the case.
