Commenting on the Slough Labour MP, Subhash Sharma, state general secretary, BJP, said, “Dhesi rakes up the issues which bring a bad name to India, be it anything related to Kashmir, Pakistan or Khalistan. We all know that he has been giving adverse comments against India . He also had close ties with Khalistani groups.”

According to media reports, Dhesi attacked India at the Referendum 2020 rally in London, a pro-Khalistan movement, organised by the banned terrorist outfit Sikhs for Justice. Dhesi, however, termed the allegations to be a part of the campaign to stop his entry in Punjab and malign the Sikh community in general.
