In the wake of heightened tensions, the Border Security Force (BSF) has shut the gates that allow the movement of farmers across the barbed fencing along the International Border in Fazilka sector.

Jhangar Bhaini border village sarpanch Harmesh Warval said the BSF shut the gate on Sunday citing security reasons.

Kulwant Singh of Teja Rohela border village said although the farmers were at the receiving end due to the uncertainty prevailing along the border, they would stand by the security forces. Raman Singh of Mansa village also said the people had been advised not to go near the fencing. The BSF DIG could not be contacted for comment.
