BSF, cops seize drone, heroin along border in Tarn Taran
Acting on intelligence inputs, the Punjab frontier of the Border Security Force (BSF), in a joint operation with the Tarn Taran police, seized two packets of heroin along with a drone in the border district here last evening.
A BSF spokesman said China-made DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone along with a 562 gm packet containing heroin was seized following a search operation with the Tarn Taran police from a field at Dal village.
Another drug consignment was also seized from the same village. It was dropped by a drone around 5.30 pm. The drone returned after dropping the drug consignment. The packet contained around 632 gm heroin.
With dense fog engulfing the region, the number of drone sorties has increased in border villages.
Over the past five days, the BSF has seized six drones from Amritsar, Tarn Taran and Gurdaspur areas, leading to the seizure of 4.9 kg heroin. The force also arrested two drug peddlers, including a juvenile, from the border belt of Amritsar.
