Former BSP state unit president Jasvir Singh Garhi, who was expelled from the party in November last year, joined the Aam Admi Party (AAP) in the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday.

The BSP had expelled Garhi for “indiscipline”. He was accused of speaking against the leaders of his own party. Following his ouster, the BSP had appointed Avtar Singh Karimpuri as its new Punjab unit president.

Garhi joined AAP along with two more BSP leaders on Wednesday, BSP general secretary and ex-state president Gurlal Saila and BSP state general secretary Dr Jaspreet.

Garhi said, “The BSP is in disarray now. I today ventured out of the grave in which the BSP had buried me. The BSP is no more acting as the protector of the dreams of Kanshi Ram and Dr Ambedkar. AAP, on the other hand, has taken Ambedkar and Babasaheb’s ideology to every office and workplace. AAP has furthered their ideology of protecting the oppressed. That is why I have joined the party.”
