Anmol Bishnoi, the fugitive brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has been formally arrested in the US, sources said. India has sought his extradition, but he is likely to be first handed over to the Canadian authorities in connection with the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

The sources said India might get Anmol’s custody later. Anmol is undergoing interrogation by the US authorities. A red corner notice had been issued against him in December 2022. Anmol is learnt to have been arrested last week in California by the US immigration department. The arrest took place after the department found one of Anmol’s travel documents forged. Earlier, there were reports that he had been detained by the US authorities.

The National Investigation Agency has announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh on Anmol, an accused in two crimes in which chargesheets have been filed against him by the agency.
