After Congress MLA Pargat Singh alleged he received a threatening call from Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s political adviser, another party leader, Technical Education Minister Charanjit Channi, who is part of a group demanding action against perpetrators in sacrilege and police firing cases has landed in trouble.
On Monday, the Punjab Women Commission issued a notice to the Chief Secretary seeking a status report within a week in a two-and-a-half years old case of alleged harassment of a women IAS officer involving Channi.
Though the commission has not lodged any complaint, it has taken cognisance of a report published in a vernacular newspaper.
Sources said the government was trying to isolate rebellion among ministers and MLAs by digging out their old cases.
