CCTV cameras installed in revenue offices to ensure transparency
In a significant move aimed at enhancing transparency and improving public convenience, the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has installed 180 CCTV cameras across Sub-Registrar and Joint Sub-Registrar offices in the state.
The Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue), Anurag Verma, has directed all Deputy Commissioners to ensure that these cameras are operational. A comprehensive report on the status of cameras is to be submitted by January 31, 2025.
Senior officials at the headquarters will monitor the CCTV footage to maintain oversight. Deputy Commissioners have also been instructed to conduct surprise inspections of the revenue offices using live footage from the cameras.
This initiative is expected to improve accountability and curb irregularities in the functioning of revenue offices, ensuring a more transparent and citizen-friendly system.
