Centre on Tuesday approved two significant development projects in Punjab, aimed at honoring the sacrifices of the martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev at Khatkar Kalan and Hussainiwala.
Ravneet Bittu, Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries, announced in a statement.
Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gajendra Shekhawat, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, for their support for the project, he said the two projects, titled “Cultural and Heritage Stretch, A Symbol of Peace and Harmony at Hussainiwala Border” and “Heritage Street as a Tribute to Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh at Khatkar Kalan, SBS Nagar,” are designed as fitting tributes to the martyrs.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has recognised Ferozepur (Hussainiwala Border) as a key destination for development under the culture and heritage category.
Following collaboration with the state government, the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee has approved the "Cultural and Heritage Stretch, A Symbol of Peace and Harmony at Hussainiwala Border" project with an investment of Rs 24.99 crores.
This initiative aims to preserve the historical and cultural legacy of the area, commemorating the sacrifices of freedom fighters like Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Rajguru, and Shaheed Sukhdev.
Ravneet Bittu further elaborated on the second project, which will develop a “Heritage Street” at Khatkar Kalan, SBS Nagar, as a tribute to Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh. As part of the Government of India’s initiative to develop iconic tourist centers on a global scale, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has approved a budget of Rs 53.45 crores for this project.
