Nawanshahr, March 23

‘Khoon se likha itihas hum syahi se nahee mitne denge, bech diye honge rail aur jahaz tune, lekin apne desh ke kisan ko nahee bikne denge’, a poetic attack on the Narendra Modi government resonated in the Kisan Mazdoor Ekta Mahasabha to mark the martyrdom of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, at Banga.

Organised by the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Doaba), the mahasabha saw people from all walks of life, including youth, NRIs, famous singers and farmer leaders from the Samyukt Kisan Morcha. Young farmer leaders from Haryana also marked their presence in the event.

Youths reach Delhi

On a call given by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha to commemorate martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh and his comrades, a large number of youngsters on Tuesday reached Delhi. They brought the soil from seven places with them.

Senior farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal made a scathing attack on the government. “A senior minister once told us during the meeting: ‘Koi aisa rasta labbo, jide naal sarkar di vi izzat bach jaaye, tuhada vi kamm ho jaaye (find out a middle ground that would help us save our face and solve your purpose too). That means the government has accepted the defeat and they don’t have the courage to face our delegation anymore,” he said.

Another farmer leader, Dr Darshan Pal, said whether the Modi government initiated fresh talks or not, the farmers wouldn’t come back without getting the three central farm laws withdrawn.
