Ludhiana MP and Pradesh Congress Committee chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring today raised the issue of drug menace in Parliament.

Warring said, “The drug menace has reached alarming proportions in Punjab. We all are unable to do anything about it.” He criticised the Central Government for its inadequate efforts and lack of Budget allocation to combat the drug menace.

Drawing attention to the jurisdiction of the BSF in Punjab, Warring said, “On October 13, 2021, the jurisdiction of the BSF was increased from 15 km to 50 km, thus covering a large part of Punjab. What happened? Today, sale of drugs has increased manifold than two years ago.”

The MP said, “Punjab shares a 425-km border with Pakistan. A large quantity of contraband was seized on February 28. Where did that seizure take place? In Gujarat, where 3,300 kg drugs valued around Rs 2,000 crore were confiscated. Drugs worth Rs 21,000 crore were seized from Adani port. These drugs find their way into Punjab and destroy our youths and families.”
