Mohali, July 26
The Mohali police on Monday have filed a chargesheet against sacked health minister Dr Vijay Singla in a local court regarding a corruption case registered against him on May 24. The chargesheet was filed under Sections 7 and 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
On July 8, the former AAP minister was granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court following allegations of corruption. Singla was accused of demanding “one per cent commission” in tenders and purchases for his department.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had sacked Singla from his Cabinet and earlier said the decision was made after he came to know that he was allegedly demanding commission in tenders and purchases. The CM had ordered the registration of an FIR against Singla, after which he was arrested on May 24.
